According to a blog post from the company handling sales for Andrew Scott’s film, Anton Chekhov’s The Duel, Bristol Media International, it will be hitting film festivals this spring. It’s to open with a Market premiere at Cannes. I don’t know what that means exactly, but I suppose it means that it will start being in competition for awards then. With all the raves from critics it sounds like it has a pretty good shot to win some.
The review quoted in the blog is from Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune, my old employer. Way to go, Mike. The review mentions it was playing in Chicago so I had a chance to see the movie back in August at a theater in town that shows arty stuff, the Music Box, but since I was unaware of Mr. Scott at that time, I missed out. Oh well, guess I’ll just have to live with seeing it in Dublin. Ha ha ha! Oh, and with the stars in attendance, as well. Double ha ha ha!
